In a stunning display of hypocrisy, President Biden spent this year's 9/11 anniversary in Alaska, far away from the ground zero memorial in New York City.
"I'm here to remind everyone that we will never forget," Biden said in a speech to a small crowd of supporters in Anchorage. "But also, I'm here to fish."
Biden's decision to spend 9/11 in Alaska has been met with widespread criticism, with many accusing him of forgetting all about the solemn anniversary.
"It's clear that Biden is more interested in his own vacation than he is in honoring the victims of 9/11," said Republican National Committee spokesperson Ronna McDaniel. "This is just another example of how out of touch he is with the American people."
Even some Democrats have expressed their disappointment with Biden's decision.
"I'm sure the President has his reasons for spending 9/11 in Alaska," said Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. "But I think it would have been more appropriate for him to be in New York City, where he could have paid his respects to the victims and their families."
Despite the criticism, Biden has defended his decision to spend 9/11 in Alaska.
"I'm here to work and I'm here to fish," Biden said in a statement. "And that's what I'm going to do."
