Philadelphia, PA - Nexstar employees in charge of closed captioning for the Fetterman-Oz debate were struggling to keep up with the Democratic nominee during Tuesday’s Pennsylvania Senate debate. “What was that? We’re talking about fracking now? I don’t know man, I’m just going to write ‘[unintelligible]’ and call it a day,” one employee was overheard saying.
“Did he just say ‘Hi, goodnight everybody?’ That’s it, I’m asking for a raise,” another Nexstar employee said at the beginning of the debate. “I’m getting a dictionary, what I typed out can’t be right.” Fetterman’s campaign team was adamant that closed captions be used throughout the debate to aid John’s interpretation of what the moderators and his opponent were saying.
However, it does not appear that the use of text on screens made any impact in America’s opinions about the mental capacity of candidate Fetterman. When Fetterman shouted that Dr. Oz wanted to cut Social Security in the middle of Oz’s closing statements, an employee for Nexstar was seen flipping their desk over in frustration.
