Government leaders proudly reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to openness this week by launching an ambitious campaign to ensure certain inconvenient numbers remain heroically invisible.
The initiative, officially titled Operation Public Confidence Through Selective Ignorance, seeks to protect citizens from the dangerous emotional burden of statistics.
Officials say some numbers can create unnecessary anxiety.
"We're simply shielding the public from arithmetic," explained one government spokesperson. "Raw data can be very upsetting when it refuses to cooperate with official messaging."
